CORRECTION: Before you go off on how dumb I am, I just realized that I was mistaken: Schlomo was an organizer for vloggercon, not the vloggies. My mistake.

    Great discussion.

The Pan is dead. some of us will post on Wreck&Salvage in 2007.

It is good that J&R have control over their content. Will be interesting to see how this turns out. Good luck to them!

Marvelous stuff, lots to think about.

To be honest I dont really think there has been any controversy about J&R, just a few discussions and the timing perhaps played into this impression. The Congdon ABC and network2 opt-out stuff was more like controversy, but its really too early to tell whether any of this becomes a permanent controvertial thorn in the side of any vloggers.

I think havemoneywillvlog was a brilliant idea, and I love all this talk about some sort of group thing which has a mini-constitution. I still want a forum/messageboard setup to talk about this and other stuff because the yahoo list gets overloaded and comments on blogs & specifically evilvlog are hard to keep up with cos the posts soon fall way off the font page. But all previous attempts to setup a new place to talk vlog on the net have failed due to a lack of people going over to the new territory.

Regarding the anonymity problems on evilvlog, Im ew here and it is confusing, I make no secret that I am Steve Elbows, but thats not much help because I dont actually seem to make any video or post anywhere but the yahoo group for 2 years, going ona nd on about my opinions when Im not even vlogging, so what good am I? I do want to help though, and make videos. Im in the UK so that also doesnt help me to be useful regarding sponsorship etc side of things, or setting up a legal entity, but I am a net-nerd. And as Im obsessed with the whole collaboration thing, Id be honoured if I could somehow help setup a site that would help with this stuff. The constitutional & decision making stuff, how this process is setup to work, and how people can collaborate closely despite large physical distance fascinates me.

Ryanne’s talk about being put off personal vlogging a bit by negative comments is upsetting and understandable, when I go to youtube I see so many horrific comments on peoples videos, I dont know how they stand it.

I think it’s funny that J&R felt they needed to announce their decision to license to Podtech. I guess its the respectable thing to do. I’ve always been a mind your own damn business kind of guy. If they want to make commercials or porn or wedding videos I say full speed ahead. I don’t consider this selling out in the least bit. Considering the 1938 guy and his content Jay and Ryanne should at least balance that out.

Looking at what’s on Podtech now there’s not much of interest to me. Let’s get some Chainsaw art on that motherfucker!

While Jay doesn’t post personal videos frequently I think his work is some of the best out there. I post weekly and when I look back I may like 1 out of 4 things I post. I think longevity and frequency should be discussed. I can’t deal with Ze Frank everyday any more and I love it when a new It’s Jerry Time comes out every three or four months. I’d rather not get every 10-second “Hi I’m Steve Garfield!” workshop post.

It’s interesting that people in Blogger/Wordpress land feel they have to post once a week and some once a day while many YouTube publishers like that Lasse kid and the guy that made the YouTubers compilation work can put up a video every couple months a pull in some amazing numbers. And we know it’s all about numbers.

I don’t know. I’m constantly thinking about how much is tooo much and how little can I do to retain interest and not work myself to death. Lazy sack. Rambling.
